Many a times this question hasbeen asked to me during my Leadership Development progrmmes by young executives, young generation of family business owners, " What are the key elements of success or in other words what are the most essential qualities expected in a successful business leader ?" Some of them might insist to further narrow the list and insisted to list out only three pre-requsite qualities. Someone would go down further and would insist to name out the single most important pre-requsite quality for being a successful business leader.
At first, I refused to name the single most quality because of the fear of oversimplification of the subject matter but the question made me think over the question again and again in fact many essential qualities have been studied by many management experts many of them are equally important and essential but the question did not allowed me to sleep fpr a few nights. I asked my self the same question again and again " which is the one pre- requisite quality for success without which a person can not be successful ?" I started to narroewed down the circle of essential qualities and I found the answer !!
I reasoned it out. Then onwards if someone asked me the same question again I always answered that questioon without any hesitation. " Desire for success. The indomitable burning desire of success. if it would be there it will compensate or compell the person to acquire any other missing essential quality but if a person does not have the burning desire. All the other essential qualities would sometime fail to achive success for him.
